"Scholarships for higher education abroad for meritorious children" in the open category
As per the Government decision of the Department of Higher and Technical Education dated 04th October, 2018, “Scholarship for meritorious children for higher education abroad” in the open category has been started and is being implemented as per the revised criteria of the Government Corrigendum of the Department of Higher and Technical Education No. Shishyavri-2024 /P. No. 243/Tanshi-4, dated 06th August, 2024.
Applications for this scholarship are invited online every year from the academic year 2018-19 through the Foreign Scholarships Portal on the website of the Directorate of Technical Education https://dte.maharashtra.gov.in.Eligibility:
The student and the student’s mother/father or guardian should be a citizen of India and a resident of the state of Maharashtra.
Educational Qualification A student admitted for a postgraduate degree or postgraduate diploma course abroad should have passed the graduation examination with at least 55% marks from a recognized university in India. Also, the student admitted for Ph.D course should have passed the Postgraduate Degree Examination from a recognized university in India with at least 55% marks.
The student should have got admission on merit in an educational institution/university within 200 in the latest QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World Ranking abroad.
Unconditional Offer Letter from the educational institution abroad as mentioned above.
Annual family income less than Rs. 8 lakhs.
The age of the candidates should not be more than 35 years for Postgraduate degree course and 40 years for PhD course as on 1st July 2025.
The said scheme has been implemented from the academic year 2018-19 and now as per the Government Decision Higher and Technical Education Department No. Meeting-2022/Pr.No.188/Tanshi-4, dated July 31, 2023, the number of postgraduate degree and postgraduate diploma seats under this scholarship has increased, hence from the academic year 2023-24, the following branch/course wise seats will be available:-

Living allowance for the entire academic period as per the government-set rate (GBP 9900 for U.K. and USD 15400 for all countries other than U.K.).
Living allowance/other expenses/incidental expenses of USD 1500 for U.S.A. and other countries (excluding U.K.), and GBP 1100 for U.K.
One-time return airfare (economy class) by a short route.
