“Scholarships for Higher Education Abroad to meritorious boys and girls belonging to economically weaker sections of open category”

 . As per Government Resolution dated 04.10.2018, the Scheme of Foreign Scholarship named “Scholarship for Meritorious Boys and Girls for Higher Education Abroad” was implemented from the year 2018-19 to the year 2025-26. Now as per the Government Resolution dated 10.06.2026, the scheme is being implemented in the name of “Scholarship for higher education abroad for meritorious boys and girls belonging to economically weaker sections of the open category” and the students are being given the facility to apply online every year on the Foreign Scholarship Portal on the website https://dte.maharashtra.gov.in/ of the Directorate of Technical Education. Also, the timetable for online applications is published on website for every year.

 Eligibility:

 The student and the student’s parents or guardians should be citizens of India and residents of the state of Maharashtra.

1. Educational Qualification A student admitted for master’s degree or Post Graduate Diploma course abroad must have passed the degree examination with minimum 55% marks in the course under the Directorate of Technical Education and Directorate of Higher Education and Directorate of Arts under the Department of Higher and Technical Education.
2. The student should have been admitted on merit to an educational institution/university abroad ranked within 200 in the latest QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World Ranking.

• Unconditional Offer Letter from the educational institution abroad as mentioned above.
• Annual family income should be less than Rs.8 lakhs.
• Age of candidates should not be more than 30 years for Post Graduate course as on 1st July of the year of admission.

4. If applications for Ph. D courses are received for this scheme, such students will be considered after ensuring that they have not received sponsorship.
